Over the last several years, Bulgari and its Octo collection of watches have become synonymous with ultra-thin watchmaking. The luxury brand has been constantly pushing the boundaries of horology with its latest creations that end up setting fresh world records, like the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Chronograph which recently became the world’s thinnest chronograph. However, last year, Bulgari unveiled a one-of-a-kind piece that wore the Octo name but it wasn’t created to break any records. Instead, the bespoke watch named Octo Grande Sonnerie Perpetual Calendar became the most complicated watch Bulgari ever made. For this year, the Italian brand has come with a new version of the same timepiece, this time available in the form of a limited edition of eight pieces. The new variation named Bulgari Octo Roma Grande Sonnerie Perpetual Calendar Diamonds delivers a bold combination of white gold and titanium case with baguette-cut diamonds.
The new limited-edition timepiece has the same design as the one-off watch from last year, including the 44mm case size. The bezel and lugs are decorated with 88 diamonds (6.57 carats), while the folding clasp is studded with another 35 diamonds (1.23 carats). The transparent black sapphire dial showcases the innards of the magnificently complicated watch. The titanium mid-case is blacked out along with featuring grooves cut into it. The watch is powered by caliber BVL 980 and offers a power reserve of 48 hours for timekeeping and 28 hours for chiming. It is paired with a black alligator strap and white gold folding clasp with baguette-cut diamonds. Only 8 examples will be made and the stunning watch is priced at $953,000.
