The coronavirus pandemic has roiled every industry you can think of, including luxury watches. How things will shake out still isn’t clear, but Breitling, for one, is rolling with it, introducing its 2020 novelty line of watches with its first-ever digital presser.
CEO Georges Kern took center stage in presenting new collections, saying they wanted to “stay in contact with watch lovers and watch fans around the world,” hence the webcast. Learn more about the new releases below.
Kern began with the Superocean Heritage ’57 Capsule Collection. This line has been created with a laid-back 1960s feel. The CEO pointed to his company’s “strong ties with the surfing community” as playing a role in the collection’s design, as surfing is “a sport that perfectly reflects Breitling’s cool, relaxed lifestyle.”
With five new models—images show six but one, the 18 karat red gold-anthracite is the same watch with different bands—Breitling introduced callbacks to its mechanical 1984 Chronomat. This retro collection comes in five flavors which Georges Kern referred to as “all-purpose sports watches.”
Timepieces in the Chronomat collection come with 42mm cases constructed with a classic Breitling shape and leather or metal Rouleaux bracelets.
If you’re gift-shopping for someone special, Breitling has you covered with new luxury models geared towards women, the Navitimer Automatic 35 collection. Kern explained that it was intended as a response to “women’s desire for a more refined and elegant version” of that model
